IL DONO onlus is a noprofit organization addressed to women dealing with an unplanned pregnancy or with post abortion trauma.
IL DONO has been founded on 2006 by Edoardo Panunzio and Serena Taccari, parents of 5 children, based on personal experience of unplanned pregnancy and of adverse prenatal diagnosys.
Facing the lonelyness and lack of interest in carrying others problems as they found themselves alone, they decided to dedicate their life to women and couples whom abortion has been offered as the only reasonable choice, and to everybody has already done that choice and suffers the incredible trauma of losing a child by abortion.
Although those topics already widely developed by many international organizations, IL DONO Onlus is the first ever Italian association focused on post abortion healing and not only pregnancy support. We do believe that without an abortion testimony there is less impact to show women the reality of the option they are pushed to; that is not simply an altruistic choice to carry a pregnancy when the situation humanly says it would be better to not be pregnant, but the consideration that keeping the baby will make me proud of me while noone is proud of an abortion.We do believe pregnancy is not only a mother or a couple matter, but involves all of us, as children are part of our social community and the best they grow up, the most we can improve our world.
So whenever the adoption choice is a real possibility and is obviously better for a child to be adopted than to be aborted, we do believe it is not the best choice for the mother: we all have to engage in offering to a woman facing an unplanned pregnancy so much love and care to make her able to keep her baby with her as he is her baby and she is his mother, the one God choose for him. We do believe that a mother, supported and encouraged by a caring network, may have no reasons to not keep the baby with her.
Suitable structures in order to offer a step-by-step human and psychological individual or group support are needed, but is not impossible and this is our project.

In this way we want to promote a smart and critical life defence to fight  our society's culture of death.

To date, the organization with its psychological, human, and spiritual support by online messageboard, livechat help, dedicated telephone numbers, confidential or group counseling, has helped hundreds women to carry on the pregnancy; over 180 children has born and many other are next to birth date; more than 5 hundred women and many couples have choosen to join the post abortion healing journey offered by the organization and are now living in peace and joy.
Blessed by the Pope Benedict XVI, known within many parishes where the founders and many volunteers offer their own testimony of God's mercy and love, IL DONO wants to make visible with our lives that in our own story in our own present time there is the presence of God and He has a salvation story for everyone of us even and more for us sinners.
